One of the biggest challenges that schools are faced with is to teach all students without exception, providing the same educational rights and tools so that each one may reach success on a fulfilling path. The teacher represents the link that helps to promote inclusion due to the role they have in the education system, with their performance being directly linked to the strategies and means of teaching used in the classroom, promoting a form of education that meets the need of each student irrespective of their differences. The objective of this study is to verify the attitudes that the teachers have in the face of these additional demands to greater include students with deficiencies in the standard education system and if these are influenced by the teachers age, experience and the number of years they have had with young people with deficiencies, the level they teach and the school they teach in. In this study the APIAD (Attitudes of teachers faced with the inclusion of students with deficiencies – Leitão 2011) questionnaire was used, with a sample of 741 teachers used. After the analysis of the data, the conclusion reached was that in general the teachers have a positive attitude when faced with the additional demands that the inclusion of students with deficiencies come with. However, during the course of the study the teachers with 5 or more years of experience and those that have experience of teaching young people with deficiencies had more positive attitudes than other teachers. Considering the variables related to the school and level of the school, contact with deficiencies in children and young people and the age range, there were no significant variations between the study groups.
